Kalkaska Big Boy in Kalkaska

We went on a Friday, and they had fried cod and perch, as well as shrimp, on the buffet. They and all of the rest of the food that we sampled were well prepared. The price was reasonable. The only thing that could have made it better would have been to have ice cream or cake for dessert. We settled for fresh fruit for dessert, so I guess we had a healthier finish that way.

surprised to say this was better than expected. good was fresh, server was prompt and friendly, and our food came out quickly.

Love this place. The chain as a whole is totally unreliable in regards to menu and service offered. So your mileage may vary...but overall, an excellent diner.

Never been to Big Boy but heard of it. Good food and prices. Nice thing is this location is directly across from a small park on Lake Michigan. We choose to take our food to go and our server made sure we had all the condiments, flatware, and napkins we would need.

Honestly, and sadly, not a great experience. Looked like a fun stop with the kids after a long drive. The bathrooms were disgusting, floor was filthy, and the staff was expressionless. We were surrounded by people that were dropping food on the floor from the buffet, and no one made a single effort to clean up the mess despite how slippery the floor became with smashed food. I ordered a loaded bacon cheeseburger and onion rings; I received a meat puck topped with bacon crispier than bacon bits, but half the taste. Not a single other topping. No one made an attempt to bring a plate with lettuce, tomatoes, etc after asking. The onion rings were closer to Funyuns than onion rings. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, filled with bad customers; but, I will not return based on my experience. They did provide timely service though from order time to table service...

Not what I remember. Seems like they are just mimicking every other breakfast joint.

Very rude waitress. Wanted to disagree with you instead of help with the menu. Ask to speak with a manager and they never came.

Nice family restaurant! Buffet or order from their menu. American food, nice friendly staff. Clean restrooms. Refilling their buffet constantly and keeping it clean. Can easily overeat here!

Were following the states guidelines and the food was great.

I hadn't eaten at a big boys in a really long time. Deciding what to get was difficult because everything looked so damn good. The lady threw a wrench into my plan for a cheeseburger by saying breakfast was served all day long. Had to get breakfast because it's the best dinner.

Very good, classic diner fare and great service. The kitchen staff was efficient; we quickly received our food. The pies were delicious, too. I don't think I'd return again, but I'm glad I got to have the Big Boy experience at least once.

They have the best hotfudge sundae, chicken strips (off the breakfast buffet), breakfast buffet, and cookies. The people are very nice also. I love this place I've been going here for a very long time.

We were on a little road trip and I did not know that there was a big boy out there anymore. And it was wonderful to eat there again.

Very nice classic Big Boy restaurant. Our breakfast was very tasty (albeit it took a few iterations to get our requested food items). Potato pancakes were very good; the multi grain pancakes were as delicious as I remembered them. Recommend.

Supper was great. I had a ceaser salad and a chocolate shake. Awesome.

Literally the worst dining experience. Our waitress was great, no complaints on the service. But our party of twelve people, who ordered all different things, each plate was disgusting. My pasta was undercooked and the “sauce” was dried on top. Our garlic “roll” was a smashed hot dog bun with some garlic salt. Not one thing was edible. I don’t know if they ran out of time or care but it was unacceptable to spend $100 on food that no one could eat.

Super big boy is worth every cent. Huge burger even for 9 bucks. We got ours to go. Quick and easy.

Friendly people and good food. But most importantly, very accommodating. I had steamed broccoli instead of fries with the Swiss Miss (no bun), and my friend ordered just the potato pancakes with just applesauce and sour cream.

We ate there twice. Breakfast this morning and dinner last night. Same recipes and taste going back to the 70's. Slim Jim, fries and my children had the shakes, yum. Clean place, excellent service even when busy.

By far the best "Big Boy" restaurant I have ever been to. Very nice food, great buffet,....and we even had live music

My experience was less than satisfactory. Had to ask more than once for various items such as salt, pepper, sugar and jelly. Recieved wrong item when food came. Never got a refill on my coffee. Would'nt recommend breakfast there at this time.
